Breathe - 2017

Freelance work in partnership with Sliger Designs LLC.

A small form factor (SFF) computer case I designed, produced, and sold back in 2017; with the objective of small size and maximum ventilation so that users' hardware would run cooler, optimizing performance.

This was revolutionary at the time, as competing SFF case designs on the market had not addressed the glaring issue of hardware running hotter inside such small enclosures.

I strategically priced these cases at an aggressively competitive price to undercut my competitors. It was feasible for me to still make a sizeable profit since I also designed the case for ease of manufacture.

Fits powerful, desktop-class hardware within a chassis less than 7 liters in volume.

PowerGrove 4x4 - 2020

Contract work for XtraLight Manufacturing LTD.

A horticultural LED grow light which I designed to rival competitors' lighting units.

I achieved this through extensive competitor analysis and defining a characteristic form for the design that would embody strength and rigidity, to convey the performance of the product.

A key design feature is the unit's ability to fold in half, which greatly reduces volumetric shipping costs.

Insu Portable - 2021

Consulting work for Insu Health Design Inc.

Insu Health Design approached me to design a concept vision for the future of what their production model insulin storage device could look like.

I performed extensive research into insulin properties, competing devices, material science, and refrigeration technologies to design a sleek and appropriate concept vision for Insu Portable.

AXON - 2022

AXON is a headset for rapid concussion diagnosis.

Speedy concussion diganosis is indispensable for on-site deployment for sports sidelines and medical first responders. Quicker diagnosis leads to safer treatment and better recovery.

The headset combines VR, EEG, and eye tracking technologies together in order to administer visual tests and concurrently analyze brain activity and eye movements.

With AXON, concussions can be diagnosed within minutes.

Research for the basis of AXON’s diagnosis method earned the Best Student Paper Award at the 2022 AHFE Conference.

Node - 2020

An interactive and sculptural lamp that I designed for ICFF 2021.

Its amorphous form suggests an inherent motion, full of tension, as if something within is pushing to get out.

The flat, ribbon-style cord can be wrapped around the luminescent body; and seemingly constricts it, as a sort of variable shade that obfuscates the light and creates a unique appearance. Unwrapping the cord unbinds and unleashes the entirety of the light within.

I fabricated the body of the lamp using rotocasted urethane.

Last - 2020

Designed for the Blaffer Art Museum.

A utility tote bag I designed and sewed out of high performance ultralight textiles. It was intended to be able to carry a load of common grocery items or be used as a general carry-all bag.

A single large main compartment contains items within a protective waterproof shell. Dual large elastic pockets on the exterior can stretch, accommodating extra items. The drawstring-like handle strap allows the bag to be carried in the hand or over the shoulder.

The use of high performance textiles allows for extreme durability, far outlasting the longevity of plastic bags and canvas tote bags.

The bag can be folded up into the size of a wallet when not in use.

Svann - 2019

A sculptural stool that expresses the motions of sinking and floating through its form.

Composed entirely of organic, compound surfaces seamlessly transitioning into one another, it was designed as an exercise in organic surfaces and craftsmanship.

It was sculpted out of foam, strengthened with a fiberglass shell, and painted in a finish that emulates volcanic stone; both to connect the design back to nature and accentuate the sculpted aesthetic.
